No idea what is “caribeno” or “tropico” about this symphonic composition, but this work proves the classical education of Lalo Schifrin. Like his colleague Ennio Morricone, Schifrin obviously felt the urge to do, what he had learned (since he was 6 yo) – beside his commercial contributions to film-music. Although recorded in 1996, this music has a nostalgic style imo, perhaps reminding of composers of the 1930s. Interesting, elaborate, not as easily digestible like Schifrin’s music for films. Worth a try in any case. Thanks for sharing.
