I’m really looking forward to seeing this show! I was a huge fan of the show Rome, and this almost looks like a continuation of it. Anthony Hopkins plays the emperor Vespasian, who assumed the principate at the culmination of the Year of the Four Emperors (69 AD). After Nero died at the end of 68 AD, there was a year of tumult in which emperors came and went in rapid succession – Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian – the first three ruling for a few months each. Vespasian would rule for 10 years (until his death) and was the founder of the Flavian dynasty. He was notable for the many public works he commissioned, including the Flavian Amphitheater, commonly called “The Colosseum”.
