As always thanks for all the years of scores too films I appreciate your effort and the final product the sharing.
Thank you
Very interesting for me was the CD of Time Tunnel.
Unfortunately, the music is in mono and sounds as if only a few pieces of music from the first episode had been cut directly from the series sequence.
Not even the intro music is in stereo.
I remember the film music for the TV series Knight Rider, in which the introductory music was only released in mono for decades.
Until finally after long time two CD’s for Knight Rider were even released in stereo.
However, only after the series was recently removed from the broadcast program and barely interested in it.
Thanks. Oh I agree with Spurti. The quality of music from these old programmes could be better treated, but then even the shows themselves are so mistreated and horror of horror, some are even lost. Film and tape stock deteriorates over time and no secondary back-ups of some of the best work of decades of artists is lost. Music for these TV shows is poorly treated or not kept at all. Soundtracks are often sourced from the actual episodes and thus sound bad or have speech and sound effects relics that are hard to get rid of especially as most OST’s are done on little to no budget. As for Knight Rider, for years all that I could find was horrible rips from the TV series, not the full piece of music as originally recorded, and the, late lamented, Richard Basehart speech was ever present. Then one day I was searching for the theme to an English TV series made by Gerry Anderson called SuperCar, and wonder of wonders one piece of the music I downloaded turned out not to be the theme I was looking for, but was the full complete version of the Knight Rider theme in very high quality and totally without all the speech and sound effects. Its a brilliant find, but none of the other tracks present, of other TV Show themes, were of the same quality. Pity.
It is only with compilations like this one, shared here, that present any decent form of many of the tracks that could, and should, be presented. I found much to like here, especially the soundbytes of my favorite B9 Robot. Great stuff.
What distresses me is when they have one or two stereo tracks and then choose to make them mono to match all the mono tracks they want to present. The recently posted ITC Compilation is a good example of this ploy. I had several of the individual tracks from the Persuaders, including John Barry’s brilliant theme, all in stereo, but on that OST they are presented with more tracks, but all of them in mono. It is really depressing.
Thanks to Admin for posting all this lovely art anyway. It is always a pleasure to see some of the remarkable stuff he or she finds. I am often surprised.
I do also recommend buying the CD’s or Albums if you have access to them. However some of us live in parts of the world where this is not possible, so we rely on sites like this one to help us out.
Many, many thanks!
