This soundtrack was composed by Zdeněk Liška, not Novák. Is it an official soundtrack? I don’t think it is, because there is no record company that would make such a big mistake. At least according to my humble opinion. I am Czech and Karel Zeman’s films are gold in our country (finally), so I think I can say I KNOW :-). Nevertheless, I believe I know where the problem is. We also have Jan Novák who was a renown film composer too, not that great as Liška, but still very good and highly employed in many Czech films. He also did some of the Zeman’s films- Ukradená vzducholoď, 1966 (The Stolen Airship) and Bláznova kronika, 1964 (The Jester’s Tale). The first is based on the Jules Verne’s book, the second is based on the Czech historical event during the Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648). Plus it doesn’t look like a collection album, the English title was used for Vynález zkázy in the world.
Baron Munchausen was also composed by Zdeněk Liška in 1961. These two films are the only feature-length films composed by him. He then composed Zeman’s short with Mr. Prokouk for instance. The rest of Zeman’s feature-length films were composed by other Czech composers such as, Emil František Burian, Jan Novák, Luboš Fišer, František Belfín, and Karel Svoboda.
It was never officialy released in our country. Zdeněk Liška, although highly regarded, doesn’t have many releases, especially under the Czech publisher.
Hi, thanks for this. But Zdeněk Novák was producer of The Fabulous World Of Jules Verne. Composer was Zdeněk Liška, author of Ikarie XB 1, The Little Mermaid and many more.
That i didnt know that there was a producer of this name, thx for that. I am not particularly interested in the crew in a detailed manner. However i must also recommend some of the available Liska’s soundtracks, Marketa Lazarova and Cremator. Both these soundtracks were released on CD. Unlike Ikarie xb1 and Shop on the main street which were up to date released only on vinyl.
Thank you for reminding me to the wonderful world of Karel Zeman, a cult for fantastic animation in the ’60s & 70’S even for us in Italy. Is Liska the composer even for the Soundtrack of ‘Na Komete’? …and what to say about the beautiful visual work of Zdenek Burian paintings…my favourite in my childhood imagination!!

So excited to listen to this. This is one of my favorite scores. and I couldn’t find a soundtrack anywhere.
Also do you know if whoever did this is working on Fabulous Baron Munchausen (Baron Prasil) as well?

Sorry I should have been more clear. I was asking was the person or people who created this album working on an album of Baron Munchausen as well?

No, the composer of “Na komete” is Lubos Fiser, composer of “Arabela”.
