Thank You Very Much!!
Re-up, por favor!
This recreation is not very good. The theremins are mis-tuned. With the re-release of the original soundtrack in stereo, plus added tracks, the original rules.
It is interesting to note that Fox scoring recorded many soundtracks in stereo in the early 1950’s as part of the research into CinemaScope stereo sound.
Thanks for that bit of info about stereo being recorded for The Earth Stood Still in 1951. It was always assumed that music stereo tracks only came to be realized around 1956-59′ due to the spectacles of Ben-Hur & The Ten Commandments. Even then many films soundtracks were still recorded mono on the film strip as well as in the recording studio, (for the most part). While this is a good recreation; the original music from Hermann is truly out of this world. I can just imagine what audiences & specially children must have thought….
….S C A R Y! whooo whooo! Great 1950s orchestration.
