Can someone explain to me what this is exactly? There’s nothing I can find online about it.
In the mean time, might as well give it a listen.
Cheers. (+Neil)
Answer: good music and the force will flow strong within you!
It might be just a remaster made by fans… ’cause RotJ has the worst release quality of all the Original Trilogy! (The FLAC is a hint at this theory)
I Know sounds interesting.
Thanks for the gem as always.
So essentially, this was the original title for Return of the Jedi, but it was later changed. So it’s the Return of the Jedi soundtrack.
Can we get the original trilogy soundtracks as the music was in the original versions of the movies.

WOW,what a HUGE improvement in sound quality. Someone treated this with passion. And great to hear the original finale from the original album. Outstanding!!
there an mp3 of this please guys if you can.
This was made from the same masters used for the 1997 Special Edition and 2004 Sony re-issue. It is the best master available, folks, as the 2008 Disney release was re-created from the 35mm mag track. Still, Jedi has never had a perfect sounding master, but this is as good as you get unless the original session masters are unearthed.
I have no standing or knowledge to argue, but where do you get this information Parno?
The Revenge is strong with this one.
Are these the actual film cues, or this simply a remaster of the concert versions?
Thanks Neil! Cheers!
RotJ is the worst of all the SW soundtracks. No matter how much EQ i use on my CDs there is very little improvement.
However, I will try a listen at this in the hopes the uploader has some magical qualities in bringing this soundtrack to true life.
P.S: Thank-you to the Administrator for all the work he puts on this site. Have a happy new year, all the best!
Jasper – if you get hold of a copy of the Anthology collection, released in 1993 prior to the 1997 “improvements”, you can get the best sounding ROTJ soundtrack, and collate the most complete version by carefully adding in the film versions from disc 4 – like the original Yub Nub – and dropping out the more subdued version included with disc 3. Have to say, ROTJ sounds brilliant to me.
This “restoration edition” is a poor collection – the sound quality is variable at best.
Thanks for your reply STM. I actually did purchase the Anthology in 93′. It was quite a revelation to hear so many cues that had never been heard before. And then when the 97′ SE for Return of the JEDI was released it was an even bigger revelation. I really enjoy listening to RotJ; there’s something in the music that reminds me of what John Williams goal was & that is on Tatooine & Endor, something very organic & comfortable. And then when we get to hear the Death Star & the Emperor themes…the mood changes drastically. Then the climax music of the WARs in space & Endor makes RotJ a favorite.
I know the Anthology is by far the best sounding but if you listen carefully there’s quite a number of clicks, studders, quick jump cuts, flutters, subtle jump cuts among all the discs. On track 15 of RotJ there’s a discernable edit of 2 different cue sessions of the track. I actually had to return it & get a new one but it was still the same. Perhaps that was corrected on download-soundtracks.com. I’ve yet to download that one. Thanks.
PS: The new music added for Jabba’s palace etc. did not work well with that cgi thing….grrrr!
SOundTracKMan, do you know or have ever tried comparing the Anthology disc with any isolated music found on the dvd or blue rays of Return of the Jedi. I suppose one could do a comparison by using the free audio program Audacity & hear if there’s any improvement or is it the same source that was used on the Anthology.
Someone at LucasFilms must have the original source material but somehow those kind of things are usually lost in a warehouse just like the Ark of the Covenant.
