Mars by Gustav Holst isn’t from any movie in particular, but it’s a heck of a great song.
It would be a great song if it had any singing in it.
“Mars – Bringer Of War” from Gustav Holst was actually used in “Things To Come” as Main-Title. So it can be regarded as film-music, that was reused, but not especially composed for a movie. (Same with “Also sprach Zarathustra” which is the Main-Title of “2001: A Space Odissey”)
And yes, Gustav Holst’s composition “The Planets” had great influence on the composers of the great si-fi-scores.
thanks a lot
