The music for “Love with the proper stranger” is quite toned down, though still dramatic, probably a wise decision when the movie depends on the play of great actors like Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen. “A Girl named Tamiko” is for some reason similar reserved for the most time, but Elmer Bernstein packs in more variety without referring to cliches like many others when it comes to “exotic” locations and settings.
