RIP
Indeed, rest in peace. And thank you for all the wonderful music you gave to the world.
Thanks for this homage to the master.
A true innovator… and an influential musician to this day. You only have to listen to early Hans Zimmer, and the recent work of Lorne Balfe, Clint Mansell and Jed Kurzel to pick up on that. He took the synth to its next level. Not only did he compose “Chariots Of Fire”, but a body of work that included the “Blade Runner”, “1492: Conquest of Paradise” and “Alexander” scores, 4 albums recorded with Jon Anderson including “The Friends Of Mr. Cairo” and a slew of his own solo releases from 1972 – 2021 (“Heaven And Hell”, “Albedo 0.39” and “China” being among my favourites). I remember back in the day, some of Vangelis’ solo soundscapes were used to score Carl Sagan’s PBS show “Cosmos”. Carl Sagan and Vangelis,.. What a combination that was… Godspeed, Vangelis Pappathanasiou
