Thank you
I think Bruno was the key to the Italo-western sound, not Morricone (as gifted as he was).
no, absolutely not ….. Morricone and Nicolai have collaborated together for many years, Nicolai was an orchestrator for Morricone, he often finished the work that Morricone did not have time to finish due to his specifications of the time which was very consequent.
As far as the “spaghetti western” sound is concerned, Morricone is the initiator in close collaboration with the “alessandro alessandroni” group Cantori Moderni. “Alessandroni was Morricone’s official whistler on his biggest scores” it was with Alessandroni’s group that all of this was done, but before that, Morricone had already invented the style without even the help of alessandroni or Nicolai. … Mario Nascimbene had called on his friend Morricone for the main theme of his masterful “Barabbas” and we immediately recognize the Morriconian paw in it.
I will finish my answer in that …. if you want to get a little idea of what the Morricone / Nicolai collaboration could be, you download on this site the scores two in one “le casse, peur sur la ville” you will find there the main theme composed by Nicolai “The Casse (unpublished version outside the film) (02:43). theme not retouched and you will then listen to the orchestrated theme, arranged by Morricone ….. of a theme so say banal and without much interest, Morricone makes a real nugget that gives all the soul of the film led by Jean Paul Belmondo, who left us not long ago …. you have here an overview of the genius Morriconien on the job thematic.
