Thanks. I used to own this on CD. Famously (or infamously) the only version of the music you could get at the time. It was performed by a cover band as Vangelis had some legal dispute with the record company.
Thanks. I first saw the original theatrical version of the film Blade Runner way back in 1982 in a ‘real’ cinema, I had been waiting eagerly for it to come out, and I just knew this film would be glorious and thus an incredible hit. I was right on one count anyway… It was GLORIOUS! But it wasn’t a hit. I felt alone, and pitied anyone who could not see that this was a masterpiece, which was pretty much everybody at the time. I waited months and months for the incredible soundtrack to show up, but there was nothing. No sign. But what did turn up was an LP album by The New American Orchestra, which I bought. I played that thing to death. Short of the original Vangelis this was a pretty good substitute. And It is still a favorite, and I still have that LP carefully kept in its special bags and sleve’s. My Turntable packed up and CD’s came in. Eventually I bought one. But still no Vangelis, and even the New American Orchestra version was unavailable on CD. In 1992 I finally managed to get the original Vangelis version on CD, and I loved it, although I still somehow missed listening to my old LP. That had got into my consciousness. I eventually managed to get a Vinyl Rip on my PC, but it was not a good copy. Here is hoping this is a better copy than that. Thanks again.
Yee Snarky – You and me, mate. Back in 1982, I was the only one who ‘got’ Blade Runner. As we walked out of the cinema, the friend I went with said, “What the Hell was that?? What a load of s%&t!!!!!” I heard similar comments from other people around us. I told him “What are talking about?? That was brilliant!!!” The reviews in the papers gave it 1-star and generally called it an incomprehensible mess.
I feel quite proud that I got Blade Runner long before it became a cult classic, and one of the all-time great films ever. But I’d say there was probably a few dozen people in the world who got it back in 1982.

Thank you for posting this cover version. I had the original LP and wore it out over years of playing.
I don’t want to comment about the impact of Blade Runner on me, as I’ll seem like a fan boy.
As cover versions go, this is the best cover I have heard since Stanley Black and the London Festival Orchestra days on London/Decca Phase 4.
Hope the studio has the master as it would be great to have a reel to reel or SACD version.
