holy ****! thank you!
can anybody explain what the prefix markings for each song mean? i.e. “8m10e” thanks!
It’s the day and the cue number. “2m16e” normally means it’s the 16th cue from the 2nd day of recording, “e” meaning it’s a cue in five parts. Although this one’s a bit odd. Six days seems an awful lot for a score like this. And the cue numbers seem to be the overall no. of the cue across all days.
It’ time. Movie synchronization…
Holy cow! Thank you Ant-Man if my favorite of all the Marvel Soundtracks.
Big fan of Christophe Beck since his days scoring Buffy.
broeser – thank you! perhaps the “m” stands for “movement” – who knows.
yamata – don’t think so: SMTPE time code used in movies and tv= 00:00:00:00 (hour, minute, seconds, frames) that definitely doesn’t match prefix in these song titles.
ah just unearthed this from the spitfire audio site -https://www.spitfireaudio.com/editorial/features/scoring-a-film/part1/
CUE IDENTIFIER:::
The convention for this in film is [reel]m[ID] so your first cue in reel one will be 1m01 your second 1m02. On reel two you may have 2m13 etc etc. Some editors and composers reset so the first cue in reel two is 2m01, but this can be massively confusing if the cue changes which reel it is in. You suddenly have the filing difficulty of 2m01 (formerly 1m13).
If new cues are inserted as the film progresses, you can use “a,” “b,” etc… (eg. 1m02b).
also, FWIW(from the same spitfire article)::
Typically feature films will organise reels by hour (a reel is rarely longer than 20mins) Use the BITC(Baked in Time Code) to create an in point so for 1m01… 01:02:22:23 (which will mean hour 1, 2 minutes, 22 seconds and 23 frames (usually 24 frames for film, 25 or 29.97 for TV, but there are different conventions).
In TV they will start the episode from hour 10, and simply work linearly right into hour 11 and twelve if it’s an epic. We recommend using the prefix on the cue idea to describe which episode you’re in so the first cue in ep.1 is 1m01 the first cue in ep. 2 is 2m01.
whoa, many many thanks <3
1m5 – The 1 stands for reel number. 5 is the 5th cue in that reel.
2m6 would be the 6th cue in reel 2
