Oldie but a goldie, many thanks!
Now this was an interesting soundtrack. Not for a movie, nor TV or show, but rather for a ‘Book Event’. Way back when (damn seems just like yesterday) the people at Lucasfilm Dark Horse Comics and Balentine/Bantim books got together and decided to create new characters and situations surrounding the original Star Wars trilogy (that was Episodes !V, V and VI), to have a whole new set of characters to play with. So they had the books, the comics, the toys, etc, and then they did this OST. Lucas was working on restoring the original films (can you believe that the original Star Wars A New Hope film prints were in such bad shape that the film was almost lost to us!!) and doing this he decided (for good or bad) to use the then current technology to improve the original trilogy. These became the Special Editions, as they are now known. While doing this, if you look carefully at the Mos Eisley scenes you can see Dash Rendar’s ship, Outrider, taking off. I was not sure if the characters and situations were still cannon (so much of the extended universe has been left out in the cold by the Mouse House), but the recent inclusion of some of these characters into the Star Wars Rebels TV series has meant that some, if not all of the events in this multimedia without a Film project are still relevant. This is set between Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi, by the by.
What is perhaps relevant, also, is the music that is presented here. This was the first time that John Williams was not truly front and center of the Music. He passed on doing this project, but suggested Joel McNeely for it. Of course he still gets a credit because his themes and music is referenced. Well worth having. My only copy to date was a 90KBS (?) copy, so I am glad to get a higher quality.
Thanks Admin.
I have the pleasure to own a copy but thanks Admin.
