Quite possibly my favorite film score of all-time. I was devastated when it lost to John Williams at those 1994 Oscars. Of course, I totally get it and I’m even willing to concede that the “right score” won – Schindler’s theme is a modern classic still adored to this day, but Robbins’ score has so many layers of subtleties and emotions. What a year it was for scores – Elmer Bernstein’s The Age of Innocence, Dave Grusin’s extraordinary The Firm and James Newton Howard’s exciting, sexy The Fugitive score were the other nominees. All incredibly great.
