I had known this album for many years, but not this edition. That’s now been taken care of. What can I say… This stunning edition includes three CDs. The first CD, Mamouna, is perfectly remastered and finally does justice to this work. The second CD contains an unreleased album, Horoscope, which served as the basis for Bryan Ferry to compose Mamouna. We’re looking at a first draft here, but what a first draft! Plus, there are two reworkings of previous Ferry songs: Midnight Train, absolutely brilliant, which also appears on another excellent Bryan album, Avonmore, and the cherry on top, which superbly closes this incredible second CD, Mother of Pearl, a track from Ferry’s former band, Roxy Music, on the album Stranded. Maceo Parker on saxophone is seamlessly taken over at the end of the note by a guitar fade-out. This is something you can only hear on a Bryan Ferry album, accompanied by his longtime collaborator, Brian Eno. The ultimate pleasure would have been for them to add another track to this edition, Reason or Rhyme, from the magnificent Olympia, but nothing stops you from adding it yourself, which is exactly what I did. The third CD contains the instrumental version of Mamouna, as well as some sung variations, which are more anecdotal. But rest assured, the production of this edition is rock-solid, making the experience of listening to all three CDs in one go completely enjoyable, even essential, which is rather rare in current deluxe editions. Overall, for those who want to discover, or like me rediscover this album in its most complete form, diving into the unique musical universe of the only true Dandy of Glam Rock, this album is made for you. Simply classy. The Crooning Vampire And Is Succubi : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bmFl0seKII
