Philippe Sarde is a very competent composer, so no wonder the director of “The Manhattan Project” was happy to have him on board. In my opinion the film-music seems never to become more than a background helper for the movie, though. A solid, quite elaborate orchestral work, no doubt, but without any recognition value – curiously and unfortunately just like the movie. In the 1980s several movies were releases that had a critical message about government, military and the cold war in general, “War Games” f.e., or even “E.T.”, but despite a good story and engaged younger actors, somehow the feeling of a missed chance remains. Just a personal opinion that shouldn’t hold anyone back to make their own view on “The Manhattan Project”. Thanks for sharing.
