Thank you very much, Diogène and Admin !!!
Hello Christopher Howard, Diogène is not only very generous and friendly, but also very serious about the music, and especially about the quality of the sound… So I think you’re obviously wrong—Please check your diagnosis, please, about the file in question. Everyone can make mistakes but, if Diogene says transmit a file in FLAC, I will never question his word…I hope you find out where your mistake came from. Kind regards,
Hello, Laurent, To check if a flac file is a genuine flac file ie 20kHz I use a program called Spek. I ran some files from Corleone and they all cut out at 15kHz, which means that it was an mp3 that was converted to a flac file. This is no reflection on Diogene, the guy is a star and true Ennio Morricone fan just like you and me. But the file is not a genuine flac. Sorry. See for yourself here http://spek.cc/
No problem, Laurent. I myself sometime upconvert mp3’s to flac files although there is very little difference unless to increase the the sampling rate to 48k.

@Christopher Howard
I do not believe at all that this score is MP3, Be careful, we read a lot of bullshit on this site about FLAC which would be converted into MP3, I have already been taken to task myself on this subject and I cut short to sleep tall stories by offering the original WAV, I have not heard anyone claiming anything! The FLAC Format is CBR by nature, if you take all a series of wav tracks to convert to FLAC, you “normally” have a toolbox in the FLAC menu which allows you to compress the tracks, if the tool is maintained “without compression” you will get true lossless, if you point the compression to 5 For example “which is the standard for all web download platforms” you will get lossy FLAC, why? Quite simply because the compression of the FLAC file modifies the depth of the BIT and the sampling rates. For this score in particular, you have to ask admin if he reconverted the files I sent him. This method saves space on internet bandwidth and download platforms use it. Or if you want, I repost to admin the score in WAV. No problem for me.
Hello, Diogene, All of your Morricone posts are superb, thank you for posting. I have found that when converting WAV to flac only the bit rate is reduced – from 1411kbs to around 650kbs. It does not effect the the frequency range. True flac and WAV files peak at 20kHz. Mp3’s cut off at 15kHz. None of the Corleone files that I checked went past the 15kHz mark. Once a music file has been downgraded it is not possible to upgrade it again to a different format and expect to get a better sound. All you get is the same sound in a different format. Can I recommend this audio analyzer to you http:/spek.cc/ You can drag and drop any file into it and get an accurate reading. Cheers!
ok, here’s what I’m going to do Christopher Howard, I’ll immediately post this score in WAV format to admin so there won’t be any problem. It is also quite possible that I posted to admin a source that I did not check “maybe a duplicate” I have a lot of them “what you say is indeed worrying and indeed, if you can’t find a viable source in your conversion, there is a problem. Thank you for reporting it and I will immediately post the score in wav to admin. I don’t know when he will post it, but I’ll take care of it right away. Thank you. To read you. Sincerely.
I say again, you are a star! As you know, soundtrack files get circulated all over the Internet, In 2007 My Opera hosted a site called Morricone Lover. He has mostly mp3’s. Next came enniomorricone-ilmaestro.blogspot. He had a great selection, nearly all loss-less. They took his blog down last year some time, it was the last of the free filesharing sites. Anyway, Diogene, keep sharing. Cheers!
848 / 5 000 Résultats de traduction that’s one of the reasons I’m sharing in the best sound format possible. I see here in France, on sales platforms like amazon, clever little guys having fun selling CDs for more than 200 Euros each, just because the CD is no longer reissued or cannot be found. I regularly have fun selling some of his CDs at low prices to break their systems, since I almost only consume music on LP, very little on CD. I prefer to have my music stored on a small 4 GB hard drive, which I can take everywhere rather than lugging around with whole cases of CDs and these days, it’s better to be mobile and have everything you need in your backpack in case of a hard blow. Anyway! the score is posted to admin in WAV this time, lol. Looking forward to reading you Christopher Howard.
Hello, Diogene, You are like me, we like the best quality sound and a portable means to play it. You are correct when you say that WAV is the best format for lossless. I only convert WAV to flac for storage purposes. WAV is a constant bitrate of 1411kbs, which is true PCM. Record companies who are selling vinyl records cannot always guarantee that the source is PCM, so all the buyer is left with is a possible mp3 on a vinyl format. For me, SACD was the best audio format that ever was, but not enough soundtrack titles made it to the catalog. Cheers!
hello Christopher Howard, yes you’re right the SACD, was really great, but it’s always the same, each time a beautiful innovation is made available to the general public, there is a lot of parasite behind it to try to corrupt what is beautiful. It was the same with the LASER-DISC and mini-disc players from sony. what a beautiful support and material we had there ….. but hey! the will of the market and therefore of the elites is to transform us once and for all into living leeks of which no longer a single head sticks out. To this end, they invented the universal CD, always in their concern for “framed” equality, I still cling to vinyl, magnetic tape players like “Revox MKII” and the high quality material of our time, but I don’t hide that even by spending a lot of money in it, the value for money is not always there. but it’s like in all things in the end, you have to know how to take “little and expensive” to leave a lot… Looking forward to reading you
Hi Christopher Howard, I’m not very good with computers, when I click on the download from your link, I come across OPERA GMX? ? ? , the best would be that you find a simple solution to contact me or so that I can contact you by email or other …. Maybe ask admin to give you my email address? That does not bother me. To read you.
Hello, Diogene, My email address is chris19087@gmail.com I have hundreds of Ennio Morricone albums to share and trade. I will give you the list when you reply. Cheers!
Just wondering – does this version have that noisy interference on some tracks? Can they clean that up or is it in there for keeps? Does anyone have a rip of the original vinyl? (While I’m on it – does anyone have a rip of the Capitol Records 1970 US vinyl of Bird With The Crystal Plumage?) Anything you need, let me know and I’ll see if I’ve got it. Only got mp3 though.

Oops! This is not a genuine flac file- it’s an MP3 upconverted to flac.
Hello Christopher Howard, can you explain to me how you arrive at such a conclusion.
Thank you.

Hello again, Diogene, I wanted to share my Morricone collection with you since have posted so many of his great albums. https://www.mediafire.com/file/quoaxnxa7mrigev/000_ENNIO_MORRICONE_lossless.docx/file
I am looking for some titles to complete the archive in lossless. I am happy to share anything that you might like. Cheers!
